Gutka Seized in Kaziranga

At the time when the Assam government has banned gutka and pan masala containing tobacco and nicotine, the Bokakhat subdivision administration seized gutka and smoking tobacco from many shops in Kohora at Kaziranga.

Although the state government announced the ban on gutka and pan masala on November 27, the same has been banned in the Kaziranga area earlier before the announcement of the government. The administration has also imposed Section 144 in the area announcing a ban on the products of smokeless tobacco and smoking tobacco.

But a section oftraders are still selling gutka and pan masala in the area illegally and theadministration after receiving information through internal source has launchedan operation and seized tobacco from the shops.
