GUWAHATI | CP picks up broom; launches ‘Anti-Plastic’ drive

Deepak Kumar, commissioner of police (Guwahati) was spotted sweeping the roads with a broom in hand.

With an aim to prevent environmental degradation, the Assam police have urged citizens to eliminate the use of single-use plastic and also suggested that shopkeepers provide eco-friendly bags to its customers.

Guwahati City Police undertook several initiatives to join in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Swachh Bharat Mission' by sweeping in and around their offices.

In Guwahati, a special cleanliness drive was today organized, in line with Modi's vision of clean India and Plastic-free environment. Many traders of the city participated in the drive and were addressed by Deepak Kumar, commissioner of police (Guwahati) about the importance of cleanliness.
