Guwahati gets ready for Durga Puja

When it comes to Durga Puja, Guwahati witnesses a metamorphosis every year. The dull, rustic streets turn bright and colourful and the sleepy alleys see a new vigour — all to welcome Goddess Durga.

So, with just a few days left to the Durga puja celebration, here are some of the Puja Pandals of Guwahati that shouldn't be missed this year.

This year, Guwahati people will see a wide variety of themes like Bharat Mata, Bahubali and Krishna Mandir, Vrindavan etc.

The Bishnupur Bimala Nagar Durga Puja Committee has created a model of the set of multi-crore-budget film Bahubali as the main puja mandap. The mandap will be 80-foot tall and will be decorated with digital lights. The puja committee is planning to spend around Rs 18 lakh this time.

39th Latasil Durga Puja Committee to design the puja mandap like the Krishna Mandir located in Vrindavan. This time, committee has a budget of Rs 16 lakh.

The Bishnupur Durga Puja Committee will construct a 78-foot-tall idol of Bharat Mata this time, with a map of India with the same height as its backdrop. The organisers said the budget this year is around Rs 35 lakh.

The rest Camp Kalibari Pandu Durga Puja Celebration will design a 55-foot-tall temple as the puja mandap. The budget this time is around Rs 24 lakh.
