Guwahati: India’s Longest River Ropeway To Launch On August 24

In a latest development, the Assam government on Saturday has announced the ropeway services between Guwahati and North Guwahati will become operational from August 24.

The launch of the ropeway services will take place in the presence of the state finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal. It is also reported that Union Fiannce Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is likely to be present as well.

The Guwahati-North Guwahati route will be the longest ropeway distance over a river in the country. The ropeway services will cover a distance of 2 kilometres within approximately seven minutes. At a time 35 passengers will be on board.

58 CCTV cameras have been installed for monitoring the ropeway service every minute. 

The ticket fare for one way will be Rs. 60, while, Rs.100 will be charged for to and fro commute
