Guwahati: Lockdown Likely To Impose Ward wise

The Assam government might impose lockdown in Guwahati ward-wise, announced State Health and Family Welfare Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday. The minister said that 7 wards in Guwahati have been identified as HOTSPOT and the government is likely to impose the lockdown in these wards. The wards are Ward No 2, 3, 4, 5, 15, 16, and Ward No 10.

The areas identified as COVID-19 HOTSPOT are Pandu, Maligaon, Jalukbari, Fatasil Ambari, Dhirenpara, Lokhra.

He further informed that the highest number of positive cases of COVID-19 has been recorded under Fatasil Ambari police station with 69 cases followed by Bharalumukh police station with 51 cases while 31 cases have been reported under Jalukbari police station and 25 under Panbazaar police station.

The ministerfurther informed that the district administration will take the decision andthe lockdown will be imposed for seven days in the first phase.

Addressing a press conference, the minister said that 33 new testing centers will be set in Kamrup (M) from Wednesday and these centers will be set up in 31 high schools.

He furtherstated that in Kamrup Metro, 144 positive cases of COVID-19 have been detectedwho do not have any travel history.
