GUWAHATI | Mushrooming Hoardings pose threat to public

Pratidin Bureau

The unipole hoardings and huge banners erected at various places in Guwahati have become a cause of concern for the commuters.

Strong gales followed by rain, made the giant hoardings move resulting in the sticks and bamboos, which were used to support the banners, to fall from a huge height, thereby posing a serious threat to the public.

One such incident happened on Thursday – A 23-year-old woman techie died in Tamil Nadu after an illegal hoarding put up by an All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) functionary crashed on her on September 12. The woman was riding a two-wheeler when the hoarding fell on her.
