HAILAKANDI | ASI Tinku Goswami suspended

The AssistantSub-Inspector (ASI) of Hailakandi Police Station has been suspended after theclash that broke out in Hailakandi town on Friday. ASI Tinku Goswami has beensuspended due to his inability to control the violence in the town. He has beensuspended following an order by ADGP Mukesh Agarwal.

On Friday afternoon a clash broke out between members of two groups after some people protested against the prayers being held on the road. Police opened fire in the air to disperse the mob. One identified as Jisam Hussain succumbed to his injuries on Friday. Moreover, 15 including 3 policemen are undergoing treatment in Silchar Hospital.

However, the situation in violence-hit Hailakandi is returning to normal although curfew remains clamped in entire district. No fresh incident of violence has been report from any part of the district. Security forces have been maintaining round-the-clock vigil in vulnerable areas.
