Pratidin Bureau

A hanging bridge at Namara near the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border has collapsed, injuring at least fifty picnickers.

The bridge was a popular attraction for picnickers. Eyewitnesses said one of the ropes had snapped as more than four dozen people were crossing the bridge. Some managed to hold on, but many others, including young children, fell into the ravine below. Injured picnickers have been sent to Biswanath civil hospital. More details awaited.
