High-level investigation ordered in Guwahati boat capsize incident

The Assam government on Saturday ordered a high level investigation in the unfortunate boat capsize incident over the Brahmaputra River on September 5 in North Guwahati that killed four people.

The government formed a one man investigation team which will be spearheaded by Additional Chief Secretary Jishnu Baruah.

The Baruah led team has been given a 30-day deadline for the investigation to be completed.

Three persons drowned and at least 11 went missing after an overloaded motorised country boat capsized when it hit JICA construction activities near Aswaklanta Temple in North Guwahati.
