Hima accepts Arjuna Award

President Ram Nath Kovind conferred the Arjuna Award 2018 upon 'Dhing Express' Hima Das for her outstanding achievements in Athletics, who bagged Gold in women's 4 x 400 meters relay, Silver in women's 400 meters and Silver in mixed 4 x 400 meters relay in the Asian Games 2018.

President conferred National Sports Awards for 2018 at a function in Rashtrapati Bhawan on Tuesday evening.

Hima's was listed on the third out of the 20 Arjuna awardees prepared by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

Weightlifter Saikhom Mirabai Chanu, the first Indian to win gold at the World Championships in more than two decades, also received the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award, which is the highest sporting honour in the country, on Tuesday along with Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli.

The other sportspersons who were conferred with the Arjuna Award are Neeraj Chopra and Jinson Johnson for athletics, N Sikki Reddy (Badminton); Satish Kumar (Boxing); Smriti Mandhana (Cricket); Shubhankar Sharma (Golf); Manpreet Singh, Savita (Hockey), Ravi Rathore (Polo), Rahi Sarnobat, Ankur Mittal, Shreyasi Singh (Shooting); Manika Batra, G Sathiyan (Table Tennis); Rohan Bopanna (Tennis), Sumit (Wrestling); Pooja Kadian (Wushu); Ankur Dhama (Para-Athletics); Manoj Sarkar (Para-Badminton).
