Himanta Biswa Sarma elected Vice President of Badminton Asia Confederation

Assam Finance Minister and President of Badminton Association of India (BAI), Himanta Biswa Sarma was elected as the Vice President of Badminton Asia Confederation (BAC) on May 17.

The election took place during the annual general meeting of the continental body in Bangkok, Thailand.

Sarma thanked the member bodies of BAC and said "I am humbled and honoured to be elected as the Vice President. I shall contribute my best to strengthen badminton in the region and bring in better coordination among Aisan countries."

He also said that his appointment as BAC Vice President was yet another proof of how India is perceived globally when it comes to growth of the sport and in providing visionary leadership.

BAI General Secretary Ajay Kumar Singhania congratulated Sarma and said that his appointment will be a huge boost for Indian badminton.
