Himanta dangerous than BJP: Khaleque

Pratidin Bureau

Congress MLA Abdul Khaleque on Friday said that Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is dangerous than his party for the people of Assam. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, the Jania MLA said, "Recently Himanta Biswa Sarma is too much into BJP."

Alleging that Himanta is making communal remarks, Abdul Khaleque said that Himanta is making remarks, which are only comparable to Yogi Aditya Nath and Sakshi Maharaj. Expressing his regret over the Minister's remarks on the people of Jania, the MLA said, "Only to polarize the people of Jania and Baghbar, Himanta made those comments and no Hindu people were tortured under Jania constituency as Himanta had said."

He also alleged that BJP has showed no respect for Assamese indigenous Muslims. "By pushing forward this Bill, BJP is trying to include the names of Hindu Bangladeshis residing in Assam into the NRC," said Khaleque.

Reacting to the controversial statement made by Himanta on Moyonbori Xatra in a television interview, the Congress MLA also said that Moyonbori Xatra was shifted to Sarbhog after 2005 flood. He also asked what BJP has done for the Xatra in last two and half years.
