IPS Diganta Borah Becomes 1st IPS to appoint as Assam Home Secretary

An IPS officer has been appointed as the secretary to the home department of the Assam government for the first time in the state.

According to an order issued by the Assam Government on Wednesday, IPS officer of 2004 batch Diganta Borah has been transferred and posted as the secretary to the home department of the Assam government.

The order read, "In the interest of public service, Shri Diganta Barah, IPS (RR-2004), Deputy Inspector General of Police (Admin), Assam, is transferred and posted as Secretary to the Govt. of Assam, Home Department."

This is the first time an IPS Officer has become the secretary to home department of the state government.

IPS Diganta Borah is currently serving as the deputy inspector general of police (administration), Assam. He is a resident of Kalabari near Gohpur under Biswanath district.

He has also served as the joint commissioner of Guwahati Police and Dhubri superintendent of police.
