‘Irregular appointment’: Govt. to go against corrupt officials

State Education Minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya has said that his education department to go against the officials involved in the irregular appointment of school teachers in the state.

Minister Bhattacharya said, "There were widespread illegal recruitments of school teachers across the State in last 20-25 years. If posts were 30, appointments were given to 300 candidates."

"We are going to take legal action against them soon. Some among them must have retired by now. However, none will be spared."

"State education department has the highest number of cases pending in Gauhati High Court, whereas owing to a pending case in the High Court we have not been able to appoint the Vice Chancellor of Gauhati University (GU)."
