Is This Chamling’s End?

Pratidin Bureau

Sikkim, which simultaneously went ahead with the Lok Sabha and Assembly Elections, is poised delicately.

In the 32-member house, 17 seat is required for absolute majority and form the government.

As per latest trend, the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) has won 13 seats and is leading in 2 seats. The Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) so far has won 14 seats and is leading in three.

From now onward, SDM will be able to form the government only if it wins four seats out of the remaining five, the results to which are yet to be declared.

Whereas, if SKM wins two more seats, then it will overthrow the SDM government and form the government in the state.

Much is at stake for Pawan Chamling and SDM and this might just be the end of road for India's longest serving Chief Minister!
