IT Department forms special cell

With a view to keep an eye on the on expenditure related to the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Income Tax Department of the North East Region (NER) has formed a Special Cell. The Special Cell will monitor all deposits and withdrawals above Rs. 10 lakhs, informed the IT department.
The Special Cell will monitor the transactions in the 7 States, 112 districts and 24 LS Constituencies in the Northeast.
Focusing on the general elections, the department has intensified the drive against the flow of undisclosed money in collaboration with the police, CISF, banks and several other government agencies. It has been actively monitoring high value suspicious transactions of cash deposits and withdrawals in banks.
The Special Cell will be active till the Election gets over, informed the IT department.
