Japanese Encephalitis Death Toll Reaches 107

The increasing number of deaths due to JapaneseEncephalitis in Assam has proved that the state government has failed toprevent the disease although the doctors are being strictly instructed to takeutmost care of the patients' suffering from the disease.

The death toll of JE reaches to 107 till July 21according to National Health Mission (NHM) bulletin after three more cases ofdeaths reported from Goalpara and Bongaigaon. As per the daily NHM Bulletin,the registered positive cases of JE are 469 till July 21.

Earlier, Health and Family Welfare Minister HimantaBiswa Sarma had instructed the doctors and hospitals to take all preventivemeasures to combat the disease and the leaves of the doctors have also beencancelled till September 30. But it seems that the health department has failedto provide necessary treatment to the patients' for which the death toll isincreasing and one death is reported everyday in the state.
