A jawan allegedly committed suicide this morning by shooting himself with his service weapon at Assam Rifles camp in Balipukhuri under Biswanath district.

The jawan identified as Gopal Singh from Uttarakhand.

When his colleagues heard the gunshot, they rushed to the place and found him lying in a pool of blood. Immediately, he was rushed to a local hospital where he was declared brought dead.

The exact reason which prompted him to take his life was yet to be ascertained.

A case has been registered in this connection and his family is being informed about the incident.
