JE Deaths Recorded Highest in Assam: Choubey

The Japanese Encephalitis (JE) outbreak has taken maximum lives in Assam with 56 dead till July 7. Union State Minister of Health and Family Welfare Ashwini Kumar Choubey had presented the data in the Lok Sabha on Friday that Assam has registered with the highest number of JE death while 215 people are affected with the disease.

On the other hand, the state has also recorded with the second highest number of deaths due to Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) after Bihar with 128 while Bihar recorded with 196 deaths due to AES in the current year of which most of them are children, according to the minister.

The Minister also informed that Assam recorded with the highest number of AES with 947 positive cases which is highest in the entire country. Choubey also informed that the in India, 67 deaths have been recorded of JE while 481 people are affected with the disease.

Moreover, 360 people have died due to AES while 4,622 people are affected by the disease in the country.
