Joint director of Dhemaji HFW arrested for graft

Dr. Abdul Latif, Joint Director of Health and Family Welfare (HFW) of Dhemaji district has been arrested by sleuths of anti corruption cell of Assam police while he was accepting bribe from a contractor in his office on Monday.

Dr. Latif had reportedly demanded Rs. 18000/- from a contractor against passing a bill of the district HFW's supply materials. The contractor had informed the anti corruption cell of Assam about the Joint Director's bribe demand to him.

On Monday sleuths of the anti corruption cell laid a trap and caught red handed the Joint Director of HFW, Dhemaji.

"The Joint Director Dhemaji HFW has been caught red handed while he accepts a bribe of Rs. 12000/- from the contractor", said a police official of the anti corruption cell.

Assam government has intensified drive against corruption in government offices. Near about 20 officials of different departments of Assam government.
