At a time when India is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Kargil Vijay Diwas, simultaneously, Khumtai in Assam is commemorating the victory too.

Today, in an initiative of the Jasingfaa Lekhika Samaroh Samiti and the residents of Khumtai, Golaghat DC Dhirendra Nath Hazarika hoisted a flag near the cemetery of Braveheart Kargil martyr Captain Jintu Gogoi, who devoted his life for the country during the Kargil War in 1999.

Pertaining to this day, quiz and art competition had also been organised among the students of various schools and colleges.

Even though, the Jasingfaa Lekhika Samaroh Samiti had been commemorating the day for years now, the family of Captain Gogoi is not content. The family stated that the Braveheart did not sacrifice his life for himself but for the nation and as such the administration should take up the initiative.

Meanwhile, staying present at the occasion, Golaghat DC assured that from the next year, the administration will take up the initiative of organising the event.
