Kiren Rijiju refutes opposition’s claim of forceful detention, delisting of voters in Assam

Pratidin Bureau

The government on Wednesday has completely rejected the opposition's claim of forceful detention and delisting of voters in Assam.

Minister of State (MoS) for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju has termed the allegation as false while responding to a Zero Hour mention by Dr Sanjay Sinh of the Congress in the Rajya Sabha.

The member said that the Assam government's action with regard to the National Register of Citizens (NRC) was leading to suicide in the border state. Sinh accused the state government of discrimination based on regional identities.

Responding to the accusations, Rijiju has informed that the entire activity is being carried out as per the directions of the Supreme Court, who is constantly monitoring the process.
