Lakhimpur Medical College To Start by 2020: Himanta

With 1100students raising the slogan of "Seuji Dhora Binondiya Sundor SwaysthaJugomia", Assam state Health and Family Welfare Minister Himanta BiswaSarma on Friday inaugurated the North Lakhimpur Medical College by plantingsaplings in the college premises.

Inauguratingthe medical college, Sarma said, "The government has taken a pledge to plantsaplings in both sides of the houses and roads constructed by PWD in the comingyears. We have also decided to plant saplings in all the six medical collegeswhich are under construction and therefore we have started the initiative withthe Lakhimpur medical college itself."

The Ministeralso said that the government is planning to open the medical college December31, 2020. He also requested the students to plant a sapling in their respectivebirthdays.

While answeringto a query regarding union PWD Minister's allegation regarding land acquisition,Sarma said that he has not discussed anything with the union PWD minister regardingthe same and that there arises problem in Biswanath Chariali regarding landacquisition.
