Sugarcane farmers halt protest in Lumding

Around five thousands of sugarcane farmers have gathered at the Swahid Maidan in Lumding in protest against the Government, demanding measures to regain the market for prevalence of jaggery. Farmers also expressed their anger and grievances on the ban of Lali gur which is a major setback for farmers.The whole incident hinders the farmers to earn their livelihood during the superb sugarcane cultivation season.

Lumding Minister Shiva Mishra arrives in the spot and spoke with the protesters.He ensured the farmers that he would carry the concerns of the farmers to the Chief Minister. The government will ensure that sincere attempts are made to fulfill the farmers' demand.
