Last day Operation by AASU; 3 lakh objections in NRC

Pratidin Bureau

In a sensational day long operation, the All Assam Students Union(AASU) members and their supporters have filed objections against more than three lakh people in the last day of the NRC's objection and complaint procedure.

The maximum focus was in Barpeta district. " We worked for a long time and organized our forces for this . The maximum focus was in Barpeta but we filed objections in al districts. Even in Majuli we had filed 272 objections" said the AASU General Secretary Lurin Jyoti Gogoi.

The AASU was backed by 30 other originations. Till the last day, number of objections embarrassingly low, just 770.

All these objections will be verified systematically from January 15 onwards. The NRC officials also admitted that till the last day, Barpeta has less than 100 objections but more than 2 lakh objections were submitted on the same day.

However other organisations could not activate themselves and confined themselves to only sloganeering.
