Last rites of martyr Basumatary performed

The last rites of CRPF jawan Moneswar Basumatary, martyred in the suicide attack on the CRPF convoy in Jammu-Kashmir's Pulwama, were performed with full state honours in his native village on Saturday.

The mortal remains of CRPF Jawan Basumatary reached Guwahati wrapped in tricolor. From Guwahati it has been airlifted by a special chopper of Indian Air Force to his village.

After the mortal remains of the martyr reached his village in Kalbari in Baksa district, the people of the village tried to console his family members.

The last rites of the Jawan were performed near his house at around 9:05 PM on Saturday. Huge numbers of people including Ministers Chandra Mohan Patowary, Pramila Rani Brahma and Media Adviser to CM, Hrishikesh Goswami were present at the spot. People raised slogans like 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' and 'Pakistan Murdabad'.
