LS polls: 10.2 percent turnout till 9 AM

Around 10.2 percent voters exercised their franchise till 9 AM on Thursday in the first phase of Lok Sabha Elections in the five parliamentary constituencies in Assam, officials said.

Till 9AM Tezpur recorded 10 percent polling, Kaliabor 10 percent, Lakhimpur 9 percent, Dibrugarh 10 percent and Jorhart 12 percent, informed Assam Election officials.

Earlier, polling for the five LS seats began on a peaceful note in all the constituencies in the State.

Few Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) were replaced at some polling booths following complaints of technical snags, informed Election officials.

Polling is being held from 7AM to 5PM in the five seats. As many as 41 candidates are in the fray for the first phase of Lok Sabha Elections in the five parliamentary constituencies in Assam.
