LS polls: 21 percent turnout till 11 AM

Around 21 percent voters exercised their franchise till 11 AM on Thursday in the first phase of Lok Sabha Elections in the five parliamentary constituencies in Assam, officials said.

Till 11 AM Tezpur recorded 22 percent polling, Kaliabor 26 percent, Lakhimpur 19 percent, Dibrugarh 16 percent and Jorhat 20.15 percent, informed Assam Election officials.

Notably, till 9 AM Tezpur recorded 10 percent polling, Kaliabor 10 percent, Lakhimpur 9 percent, Dibrugarh 10 percent and Jorhat 12 percent.

Earlier, polling for the five LS seats began on a peaceful note in all the constituencies in the State. Polling is being held from 7 AM to 5 PM in the five seats. As many as 41 candidates are in the fray for the first phase of Lok Sabha Elections in the five parliamentary constituencies in Assam.
