LS polls: 26.4 percent turnout till 12 PM

Around 26.4 percent voters exercised their franchise till 12 PM on Thursday in the first phase of Lok Sabha Elections in the five parliamentary constituencies in Assam, officials said.

Till 12 PM Tezpur recorded 35 percent polling, Kaliabor 26 percent, Lakhimpur 22 percent, Dibrugarh 24 percent and Jorhat 25 percent, informed Assam Election officials.

Till 11 AM Tezpur recorded 22 percent polling, Kaliabor 23 percent, Lakhimpur 19 percent, Dibrugarh 16 percent and Jorhat 20.15 percent.

Earlier, polling for the five LS seats began on a peaceful note in all the constituencies in the State. Polling is being held from 7 AM to 5 PM in the five seats. As many as 41 candidates are in the fray for the first phase of Lok Sabha Elections in the five parliamentary constituencies in Assam.
