LS Polls : JD-U to contest from Assam, Manipur

Janata Dal United (JD-U) will contest in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections from Assam and Manipur. Bihar's ruling  JD-U,'s General Secretary Afaque Ahmed Khan said that two candidates will be fielded in Assam and Manipur on the agenda of secularism and development. JD-U however refused to disclose the number of seats they will be contesting.

JD-U's  also actively opposed the Citizenship amendment Bill 2016 at the Rajya Sabha and stood with the interest of the indigenous people of the State.

Janata Dal (United) in the northeastern states and are also part of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) led government in Nagaland, the JD-U had recently supported the movement against the Citizenship bill in Assam and other northeastern states.

The general elections, 2019 are expected to be held in April and May 2019 to constitute the 17th Lok Sabha.
