Lt.General of Indian Army Visits Baghjan Site

Lieutenant General of Indian Army Rana Pratap Kalita, GOC 3 Corps along with Executive Director of Oil India Limited (OIL) Prasanta Barkotoky visited Baghjan site to take stock of the logistic operation carried out by the Army in order to control the fire in the stipulated deadline by July 7.

The IndianArmy has mobilized men and materials to help OIL authorities build a bridge tospeed up the ongoing operations to kill the Baghjan well in Tinsukia districtand douse the fire within the set deadline.

OILSpokesperson Tridib Hazarika while speaking about the ongoing work to controlthe fire said that the well control operations are proceeding as scheduled. thedeadline is July 7 to kill the well and that the OIL authorities are confidentthat the fire will be doused by July 7.

A team from 3 Corps Indian Army carried out a survey for constructing a Bailey bridge over the natural pond near the Baghjan 5 oil well site in Assam's Tinsukia on Tuesday last.

Two numbers of Bunkhouses and one number of generating set have been placed at site after completion of civil work for the development of the area.

The army is constructing a bridge over a wetland to carry logistics to the well mouth where the fire is on.
