The ferry services from Jorhat's Nimatighat to Majuli have been               suspended from Sunday onwards, the inland water transport department informed.

The decision was taken keeping in view of the increasing water levels of the Brahmaputra River that is triggering a flood-like situation across the state.

Since last night there has been a rapid increase in the water level, the department officials said.
