Manipur CM urges students to cooperate in University probe

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Tuesday has urged the students to cooperate with the Centre's fact-finding committee constituted to probe allegations against the Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University Adya Prasad Pandey.

He said, "I appreciate the Central government's concern. Javadekar has constituted fact-finding committee to investigate allegations against Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University. Request students and concerned people to cooperate with the government in the investigation and let University function for larger interest."

On Tuesday, the Ministry of Human Resource Development had reconstituted a three member fact-finding committee to assess the allegations against the Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University.

The Manipur University Students' Union (MUSU) has been on a strike demanding the removal of the University Vice President following allegations of administrative negligence and financial irregularities.

Earlier on July 12, the Centre had formed a fact-finding committee, comprising of a member of the University Grants Commission (UGC), Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court and an HRD member.
