Manipur: Nitin Gadkari Lays Foundation Stone of 3000 Cr Highway Project

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Monday laid the foundation stone for 14 Highway Projects worth Rs. 3000 crore and over 300 Kms length in Manipur through video conferencing in the presence of Chief Minister N Biren Singh, DoNER Minister Jitendra Singh and other officials.

CM Biren Singh took to twitter to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Nitin Gadkari, Jitendra Singh who has consented to lay the foundation stone for a 25 km elevated highway corridor in Greater Imphal area which will reduce traffic congestion in Imphal city to a great extent.

Singh said that the Union Minister of Road and Transport Nitin Gadkari have also promised to visit the state of Manipur for the Bhoomi Pujan of 25 km long elevated roadway to decongest Imphal city traffic. This has been a long standing demand of the people of the state, and wished to thank the Union Government for its support, said Singh.

According to a statement issued by the Manipur Government, it said, "These projects for inauguration and foundation laying carry a Road length of 316 kilometers, involving construction value of about Rs 3,000 crore."

Paving the way for the development of Manipur, these roads will enhance better connectivity, convenience, and economic growth in the state, the statement reads.
