Manipur Registers 1234 Cases of COVID-19

Manipur on Tuesday registered another seven new cases of COVID-19, taking the state's tally to 1234.

In the last 24 hours, seven persons (five male and two female) were confirmed as new COVID 19 positive cases from the Virus Research & Diagnosis Laboratory (VRDL) of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences, as stated in a press statement issued by the state health department.

The cases are detected from the districts of Bishnupur, Imphal East, Kangpokpi and Senapati.

According to the health officials, the positive patients are all returnees from other states.

They are being shifted to the COVID Care Facilities, the statement said.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours, 59 persons were discharged from COVID care centres of Meitram (5), Ukhrul (19), Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (2), JNIMS (24) and District hospital Churachandpur (9) after they were found COVID-19 free on a Real Time PCR test, it added.

The number of active and recovered cases in the state is 681 and 553 respectively.

However, the recovery rate is 44.81 per cent.

As on Wednesday, 50,994 tests were conducted for Covid-19, said an official of the health department.
