Mathematician & Writer Dilip Dutta is no more

Mathematician and writer Dr Dilip Kumar Dutta is no more. He was 80. He breathed his last at Rhode Island, Kingston, USA, this evening (IST).

Dilip Kumar Dutta, a former professor of Mathematics in theUniversity of Rhode Island, Kingston, USA, has written more than 15 Assamesebooks, which include Dr Bhupen Hazarikar Geet aru Jeevan Rath, SubhadinarNirghanta, Mane Mur Kaina Bichare, Miss Gauhati, Premat Parilo Neki, BishnuPrasadar Prasad among others.

The books onMathematics authored by him include Concept of Geometry, Math Education at ItsBest, and Finite Math for Liberal Art among others.

As a researcher, preserver and promoter of Assamese culture, he had the rare collection of songs of Dr Bhupen Hazarika, Bishnu Prasad Rabha and many other eminent and lesser-known artistes of Assam. Through 'i-tune', he had uploaded many Assamese songs on the Internet.
