Meghalaya Police recovers huge cache of weapons in East Garo Hills district

Meghalaya police on Friday have recovered a huge cache of weapons hidden in the thick jungle of East Garo Hills district.

Based on inputs provided by the villagers of Bagre and Dorengkigre about the stockpile of arms, an operation was conducted and weapons recovered.

The Police recovered 347 HMG rounds, two AK Rifle bodies, one AK 56 rifle without a magazine, four pistols, six pistol magazines, six shotgun cartridges, 52 numbers of 7.65 mm pistols ends, one Chinese grenade, 57 numbers of 7.62 SLR rounds, 63 numbers of GNLA seals, four IED remotes, one walkie-talkie, nine remote IED circuits, 28 electronic detonators, seven bullet charger clips, five UBGL cells, one helmet, two SBBL shotguns, 485 AK 47 bullets, 104 rounds of .303 rifle, 2659 rounds of 7.7 mm rifle and four pieces of HMG stands.

East Garo Hills district SP said that said that more and more villagers are coming forward to help the Police and this operation was conducted entirely with the support of the villagers.
