Modi & Shah hold review meeting with Assam CM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah on Wednesday chaired a review meeting with Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in New Delhi.

According to reports, they discussed about Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, National Register of Citizens (NRC) and upcoming Lok Sabha polls in 2019.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will kick off the BJP's poll campaign for next year's Lok Sabha polls in Assam by addressing a rally in Silchar on January 4. The next Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to take place around March-April, 2019.

Notably, the PM had visited Assam on Tuesday and inaugurated the long awaited Bogibeel Bridge. Meanwhile, Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was also present during the meeting.
