Moni Madhab Mahanta resigns from AASU

Pratidin Bureau

After AGP-BJP alliance and BJP deciding to leave Kaliabor constituency for AGP, the news that has come in is that Moni Madhab madhab has resigned from All Assam Students' Union (AASU). Mahanta had been holding the responsibility of a Vice-President in the organisation until his resignation.

It may be noted that, Mahanta is the younger brother of the AGP leader Keshab Mahanta. There has been speculations that the younger Mahanta had been keen on joining AGP and contesting the elections from the Kaliabor constituency, which is now being represented by former CM and Congress leader Tarun Gogoi's son Gaurav Gogoi.

With just a few days in hand for the upcoming General Elections, the political scenario of Assam has turned upside down. Right from AGP joining BJP again to all those AGP members against this decision leaving the party everything has turned turtle.

Now, it will be interesting to see whether the speculations do come true and till then let us wait and watch.
