Motorists suffer as fuel prices continue to rise

Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, fuel prices in Guwahati as well as in other parts of the State continue to rise with oil companies hiking prices of petrol and diesel. Petrol price in Guwahati on Sunday stood at Rs 71.96/litre while consumers in the State capital will have to spend Rs 68.09 today for a litre of diesel.

While a litre of petrol became dearer by Rs 2.03 within 23 days (price of petrol in Guwahati was Rs 69.93 a litre on February 15), the corresponding hike for a litre of diesel within 23 days has been Rs 1.92 (Rs 66.17 per litre on February 15).

Meanwhile, Motorists and the common people have flayed the government for failing to contain rising fuel prices.
