Mystery deepens over Neha Sharma’s identity

Pratidin Bureau

Mystery deepened over the identity and address of Neha Shama, who died in Israel's Tel Aviv, as locals of Merabil under Assam's Udalguri have not identified anybody called Neha Sharma or her parents Pushkar Raj Sharma and Tirath Shama.

As per the affidavit, submitted by Neha Sharma, at Noida in Uttar Pradesh when she was 33 years old, left to Israel to get engaged in caregiver's job. Neha Sharma was born on July 16, 1980 and her passport was registered as L637541.

It should be noted that, informing about her death on his social networking site Facebook on Thursday, Inspector General of Delhi Police, Robin Hibu stated: "Miss Neha Sharma from Merabil, Assam has died in Isreal at Tel Aviv today". Hibu also stated: "Her parent/ relative need to be informed to bring back her dead body."

When Pratidin Time enquired the locals of Merabil, if they knew anybody called Neha Sharma or even her parents, they firmly denied. However, a source informed Pratidin Time that Neha Sharma originally hails from Nepal. The source also said that Neha used to work at Noida and later shifted to Tel Aviv in Israel. But in her passport, it was clearly mentioned that, she was born in Merabil.

Now the questions arise, who is Neha Sharma? How did she manage to get birth certificate from local Primary Health Centre? How was the police verification of her identity done during issue of Indian passport?

Locals of Merabil demanded an investigation to the matter.
