Assamese actress Jharna Choudhury Bishaya committed suicide on Wednesday night in her residence at Uzan Bazar railway colony.

This was followed by in the wee hours of Thursday another suicide committed by a youth namely Vishal Hazarika.

Reportedly, Vishal rushed Jharna to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) but was declared brought dead.  After her demise, Vishal hanged himself from the ceiling of the viewpoint of the Sati Radhika Shanti Udyan located on the Brahmaputra riverfront in the wee hours of Thursday.

The family members of both the deceased have lodged an FIR with the police and two cases of unnatural death (18/2018 and 19/18) have been registered.

Locals claimed that both of them were 'close acquaintances'.
