Nagaland: President, PM wish people on Statehood Day

President Ram Nath Kovindand Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday wished the people of Nagaland on its57th Statehood Day.

Praising the unique blendof heritage, culture and natural beauty of Nagaland, President Kovind tweeted, "Greetingsto the people of Nagaland on statehood day. Nagaland offers a unique blend ofheritage, culture and natural beauty. My best wishes to all the people of thisbeautiful state for a bright, prosperous and peaceful future."

On the other hand, callingpeople of Nagaland compassionate and courageous, the PM prayed for the progressof the state. "Best wishes to my sisters and brothers of Nagaland on theirStatehood Day. This state is known for its great culture. The people ofNagaland are compassionate and courageous. May Nagaland scale new heights ofprogress in the coming years," PM Modi tweeted.

It may be mentioned herethat Nagaland was formally recognised as a State on December 1, 1963, withKohima being declared as its capital.
