National Games 2022 | Meghalaya CM Inspects Games Village Site

MeghalayaChief Minister Conrad K Sangma inspected the site for building a Games Villageand the main stadium at Umsawli on the outskirts of the city as the state wouldhost the National Games in 2022.

The inspectionhas been carried out as the delegation of the state government will meet PrimeMinister Narendra Modi to submit the detailed proposals for development of theland along with other proposals for different locations in the state.

The ChiefMinister further informed that the government has been working closely with theMinistry of Social Justice for the last one year to build a stadium for personswith disabilities in the area and that the stadium at the site of the NationalGames 2022 would serve a double purpose. CM Sangma further stated that theyhope that the Central Government would clear the proposal of the stategovernment to have one Disability Stadium in Shillong for the whole of EasternIndia.

The CM alsostated that the site would house the main stadium with a capacity for 25-30thousand spectators, Swimming Pool, Multi Utility Indoor Stadium and housingarea to accommodate 2000-3000 people.

An approachroad to the Games Village has also been inspected by the Chief Minister. The InformationTechnology Park which is in the vicinity and the Assembly site at Mawdiangdianghas also been inspected by CM Sangma.
