NDRF’s cleanliness drive at Kasomari ghat

The first battalion of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) today carried out a Swachata Abhiyan by cleaning the Kaosmari ghat after Vijaya Dashami on Friday October 19th  under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in coordination with the Kamrup Metro district administration.

SK Sastri, commandant of the battalion along with 55 NDRF personnel including police personnel and Deputy Commissioner Virendra Mittal participated in the programme.

During the campaign the NDRF personnel cleaned the ghat, disposed of the garbage and also sanitised the ghat surroundings.

Earlier the Assam Government had come out with a slew of guidelines prior to Durga Puja. In a meeting  preceded  by  Guwahati Development  Minister  Siddhartha Bhattacharya,  guidelines include  the administration to collect the idols post immersion.

The battalion is deployed at Patgaon to render its services to people in the wake of any disaster in any part of the country, especially in the Northeast.
