NIA court awards death penalty to NDFB militants

The National Investigation Agency ( NIA) Court on Saturday awarded capital punishment to two NDFB cadres and life imprisonment to other two who were involved in a mass killing that took place in Sonitpur district on night of December 12, 2014.

The convicted militants were : Sanju Bordoloi alias Sibigiri, Bishnu Narzary alias N Berema, Ahoy Basumutary alias B Bujumbura and Nitul Daimary alias D Naihab.

Ajay Basumatary and Bishnu Narzary have been awarded capital punishment by the NIA court whereas Nitul Daimary and Sanju Bordoloi have been awarded life imprisonment.

The cadres of NDFB, a proscribed terrorist organisation, had indiscriminately fired upon the villagers of Santipur village under Rakhakmari Police Out Post in district Sonitpur, Assam. As a result, 06 persons had died on the spot and 02 persons had sustained injuries.
