The Bureau of Investigation andEconomic Offences (BIEO) of the Assam Police on Friday arrested one more inconnection with an agriculture scam in the State. The arrested accused has beenidentified as Bidyutjyoti Sarma (35).

Based on inputs, a team of BIEO arrested Sarma from Bongaigaon. It may be mentioned here that Sarma is the chairman of Dhalaigaon panchayat.

As per sources, Sarma hadallegedly collected of Rs. 1 crore from poor farmers and assured them ofproviding tractors, seeds and fertilizers. Earlier, three more people werearrested in connection with the same case.
