Onion Rs 60-70 Per KG ‘Reasonable’: Phani

Amid rising prices of onion across the state, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Phani Bhushan Choudhury said that the current price of Onion is 'Reasonable'.

"Selling Onion Rs 60-70 per KG is acceptable as the vendors have to spend Rs 8/- per KG as importation charge": Choudhury said.

He also asked Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) to focus on onion production instead of staging dharnas.

Onion prices have spiked in the last one month due to supply disruption from growing states like Maharashtra after floods. Rains in the last week further affected the supply, impacting prices. Food and Civil Supplies Minister Phani Bhushan Choudhury along with the department officials paying surprise visit at Beltola Bazaar for an inspection on Thursday.
