Pay hefty amount for violation of traffic rules

The Motor Vehicle Amendment Bill 2019, which was passed in the Lok Sabha on July 23, will come into effect soon. The Bill aims for stricter action against violation of traffic rules. Currently, the Bill has been introduced in the Rajya Sabha.

Below is the entire list of proposed fines for the violations of traffic rules:

It may be mentioned here thatthe minimum penalty for violation of traffic rules and regulations has beenincreased from Rs. 100 to Rs. 500. The maximum penalty has been fixed at Rs.10,000 for a number of offences. For drink and drive cases, the penalty is Rs10,000 – up from Rs 2,000 under the existing law.

Interestingly, the new billtalks about "Good Samaritans", a person who comes forward to help aroad accident victim. Such individuals will not be liable for any civil orcriminal action if the accident victim suffers any injury or dies due toinadvertent negligence on their part in providing assistance to the victim.
