PM Modi advocates CAB at Changsari

Amid ongoing protests over the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated four projects worth Rs 39,000 crore at Changsari near Guwahati. The projects included – a bridge over the river Brahmaputra, construction work of the AIIMS, Numaligarh Refinery's bio-diesel plant and the Barauni-Guwahati gas pipeline.

Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister advocated for the much debated Citizenship (Amendment) Bill. "People who sit in AC rooms are spreading false rumours about Citizenship Amendment Bill," said the Prime Minister.

He also said "After partition, the minority communities were betrayed. It is the responsibility of Mother India to give them shelter."

However, during his speech, the PM assured the people of Northeast that their States would not be harmed through Citizenship Amendment bill. "Our government is ready to fully protect the culture, resources and Northeast states' language," said the Prime Minister.
